Spring Home Maintenance

With the weather warming up, it’s important to take this time to do some routine checks with your home and get it into tip-top shape. Along with spring cleaning, here are some major things you should try to fit in over the next few months.

CLEANING YOUR GUTTERS. Remove dirt and grime before the rain starts coming down. It will be so much harder when it’s wet and also could cause water damage if it goes unchecked. This is good for your roof in the long-run.

CHECK YOUR SCREENS. With summer bringing beautiful weather, it also brings bugs. Take the time to look at your screens and see if there are any tears or holes that need to be patched. It’s always great to get a nice breeze through your home, but you want to avoid the pests that come with it.

TEST FOR MOLD AND MILDEW. You can hire a person, do a mold test kit, or even try to make a DIY detector at home. Mold and mildew can get out of control quite quickly so it’s best to stop it as early as possible. Another great way to avoid mold and mildew is by checking the caulking in the bathrooms and kitchens. Replace it if it is getting worn-out.

Optional: AIR CONDITIONING SERVICING. Not everyone in BC has air conditioning so this might not be for you, but if you do, it’s a good idea to hire a technician to check it over and let you know if it needs new filters.
